Injured in Auto Accident – How to Get The Accident Report Fast

“I was hurt in a car wreck but I can’t figure out how to get the crash report!”

= recent prospect

Police departments work a lot of auto accidents. It can take 3-5 business days for your report to be ready.

The # 1 issue faced by people calling my law firm is that they can’t get the police report fast enough. Often, they don’t have the insurance information for the other driver (that information is on the police report). Without insurance information, you can’t start a claim for your vehicle, your rental, or your injuries.

Typically, police officers won’t give you insurance information over the phone. If you contact the officer who investigated your car crash, they are going to tell you that the insurance information will be on the report and you have to wait.

Meanwhile, you are without a car and have no way of communicating with the insurance company responsible for fixing/replacing your damaged car.

An Attorney Can Help

If you have been injured in a car accident, time is of the essence. By the time the police report is ready the insurance company for the at-fault driver will have already talked to their driver and decided what happened WITHOUT hearing your side of the story.

It’s important to get an attorney working before that happens.

What can an attorney do for you? Depending on the police department that is working on your report, I may have a contact inside that department. I can push to get your report ASAP.

Delay in calling an attorney ONLY HELPS THE INSURANCE COMPANY

If you wait to call an attorney after being hurt in a car crash, the insurance company for the other driver gets the upper hand. They are investigating your wreck before you even know it. They will be gathering evidence, calling eyewitnesses, talking to the police officer, doing all they can to defend and defeat your claim.

There is no reason to let them get away with that.

Also, the moment the insurance company gets your phone number they will be calling you. Don’t talk to them! They are recording what you say. No matter what you say, it will later be used against you.

Let an attorney do the talking. Nothing I say to the insurance company can be used against you.

Nothing levels the playing field like having an attorney

America is a place where every person can have an attorney that levels the playing field. Insurance companies do not want you to exercise that right. They know that once you have an attorney they will have to actually pay.

Watch out for calls from insurance companies. They will talk smooth and make promises. Their whole focus in the first conversation with you is to keep you from hiring an attorney. Then, once they have your trust, they will delay until it is too late to hire an attorney. Then they will not pay. It’s like a broken record, the same sad song over and over.
